Sorry for the unexpected downtime the last few days. There was some confusion w/ my hosting provider, but it's all been worked out.

Half a Decade Old

Helpfulnotes.com turns 5 years old today. Man I'm getting old. For those of you who wonder where the Destinos Summaries went, they're under the Spanish section.

Economics, Computer Science Updates, Dead Links Removed

Posted on Monday, October 31, 2005 by wwq222

The Economics section has been updated with some investment related sites, and the Computer Science section has some new content as well. Dead links across the site were also removed.

History at Sparknotes.com - Provides notes for US and European history.  Although you will study the history of Asia and Africa, a large portion of the year will still deal with these two continents.  Covers topics such as the Industrial Revolution, Enlightenment, French Revolution, WWI, WWII, etc.

Although I did make notes for every chapter in the book when I was a sophomore, I for some reason over the years deleted them all.  However, I do have this piece of advice.  If you want to do well on the tests, read the book.  Almost all the information you'll get is from the book, and you'll need a lot of minor details, so read it carefully.

US History  at Sparknotes.com - Yes, Sparknotes does it again.  A very nice collection of notes, use them well.

My Personal Notes - I created these notes during my year in Honors US History.  They are based on the blue American Odyssey book.  Since the notes are very condensed, you will not understand then if you did not already read the book.

Economics at Sparknotes.com - Yes, Sparknotes does it again.  A very nice collection of notes, use them well.

Yahoo Finance - A great source of information for current market information, including stock quotes (delayed 15 - 20 minutes), options chains, company profiles/financial data, finance/investing related articles, and general reference information on various aspects of investing.

MSN Money - Similar to Yahoo Finance.

CNN Money - Focuses more on current market trends and news rather than investing, and their articles aren't always objective, but still an interesting read.

Investopedia - Absolutely one of the best online investing/finance focused encyclopedia's I've ever run into. Includes a Invesment Simulator that lets you trade stocks, bonds, and options with play money. Great for those wanting to learn more about investments but don't want to risk cash.

The Motley Fool - Objective? I think not. These guys write some pretty opinionated articles about stocks and other investing ideas. They're fun to read, but follow their advice at your own risk.

My Personal Notes - I created these notes when I took AP Economics from Jan 2001 - June 2001.  They are based on Economics, Revision 5 by Roger Arnold.  Although econ is constantly being updated, the basic ideas will not change, so even if you book is different, the topics should still apply.
